Mr. George Atlas Aldridge, Jr., 81, of 3923 Centergrove Road, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 21, 2010, at the Brookdale Senior Living Center in Concord.
A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Tuesday, February 23, 2010, at New Gilead Reformed Church. Pastor Jeff Richards will officiate. The body will lay in-state at the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Monday at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times, the family will be at the home of a daughter, Terri Lynn Arthur, 3070 Penninger Road, Concord.
Mr. Aldridge was born December 4, 1928 in Cabarrus County. He was a son of the late George Atlas Aldridge, Sr. and Mary Bost Aldridge. He worked in textiles as a machine fixer and was a farmer. He was a member of New Gilead Reformed Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandchild, one brother and two sisters.
Mr. Aldridge is survived by four daughters, Tammy Gray and husband Jackie of Concord; Teresa “Cissy” Chavez and husband Julian of Rockwell; Terri Lynn Arthur and husband Woody of Concord; Toni Jean Yow and husband Ray of Concord; and two sons, Tim “Skinny” Aldridge and wife Jackie of Concord and Theron Aldridge and wife Angela of Rockwell; brother, Carl Aldridge of Concord; three sisters, Mary Evelyn Wilson, Janice Wilson and Becky Aldridge; 13 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
