Hugh Watson Phelps

June 20, 1915 — February 21, 2003

Mr. Hugh Watson Phelps, 87, of 1427 Oakshade Avenue, Kannapolis, died Friday, February 21, 2003, at Universal Healthcare in Concord. Funeral services will be conducted 2:30 p.m. Sunday, February 23, 2003, at Kimball Memorial Lutheran Church. The Rev. Richard Rhoades and Rev. Hoke Ritchie will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the residence. Born June 20, 1915, in Oglethorpe County, Georgia, Mr. Phelps was a son of the late Charles and Emma King Phelps. He retired several years ago from the Number Two Weave Room of Cannon Mills Plant One. Mr. Phelps was a member of Kimball Memorial Lutheran Church. He was a US Army veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife, Louise Rary Phelps; and a daughter, Juanene Phelps Savage of the home.
