Ira Pearson Yon

Mr. Ira Pearson Yon, 86, passed away Thursday, January 15, 2015, at Tucker Hospice House.

A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Monday, January 19, 2015, at Central Baptist Church. Rev. Curtis Parker and Rev. Allen Reid will officiate. Interment with military honors will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The body will lie in-state at the church from 1:30 to 2:00 pm Sunday.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 pm Sunday at Lady's Funeral Home.

Mr. Yon was born November 16, 1928 in Anderson, SC. He was a son of the late Thomas Wyatt Yon and Annie Robinson Yon. He retired from U.S. Navy after 30 years of service. After his military service, he worked for Cannon Mills and later Robertson Air Tech. He was a member of Central Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Lula Y. Childers, Marietta Y. Morris and Pauline “Polly” Y. Reavis and four brothers, Tilley Yon, John “J.P.” Yon, Thomas “Frank” Yon and Jack Yon.

Mr. Yon is survived by his wife, Peggy Patterson Yon; daughter, Brenda Yon Spaetti and husband Leonard of Kannapolis; two grandchildren, Michael Spaetti and fiancée Jennifer Gulledge of Kannapolis and DeAnna Spaetti Carpenter and husband John of China Grove; two great grandchildren, Elijah Carpenter and Reagan Carpenter; and special sister-in-law, Colleen Eagle.
