Voyte Wayne Wilhelm

Mr. Voyte “Bogie” Wayne Wilhelm, 77, loving husband, father and devoted grandfather, passed away Wednesday, July 9, 2014, at Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm Saturday, July 12, 2014, at Mt. Mitchell United Methodist Church. Rev. David Raiford will officiate. Interment will follow at Mt. Mitchell United Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 pm Saturday at the church prior to the service.

Mr. Wilhelm was born on September 21, 1936 in Rowan County. He was a son of the late Kenneth Alexander Wilhelm and Mollie Estelle Honeycutt Wilhelm. He retired from Pillowtex as head maintenance of the Twister Department. Mr. Wilhelm was very devoted to Mt. Mitchell United Methodist Church and the church “Hot Dog” Gang.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Colleen Irvin and Linda Wright.

Mr. Wilhelm is survived by his wife, Betty Lou Beaver Wilhelm; son, Jeffrey Wayne Wilhelm and wife Jeanette of Albemarle; daughter, Amy Darlene Thurmond and fiancé Troy Broadway of Kannapolis; sister, Martha Faye Lanaghan and husband Jack of Concord; four grandchildren, Aleshia Thurmond, Matthew Wilhelm and Paige Wilhelm, all of Albemarle and Alex Thurmond of Kannapolis.
