William Dempsey Karriker

October 26, 1944 — November 12, 2017

Mr. William Dempsey Karriker, 73, passed away Sunday, November 12, 2017, at Levine & Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville.

A funeral service is scheduled for 1:00 pm Saturday, November 18, 2017 at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Paul Turbedsky will officiate. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove.

The family will receive friends from 11 to 12:45 pm prior to the service at Lady's Funeral Home.

Mr. Karriker was born October 26, 1944 in Rowan County. He was a son of the late Dempsey Dewitt Karriker and Rose McGee Karriker.

Mr. Karriker was a very loving person, who gave his greatest gift, his time, to his entire family and especially his grandchildren, which were his pride and joy. He was the President of the South Rowan High School class of 1963 reunion. He loved to play golf and was a member of the Peninsula Golf Club in Cornelius. Bill was very proud of his two sons for receiving ACC football scholarships to Georgia Tech and N.C. State. He was also proud to be one of the original owners of Panthers PSL.

He was also known as a legend at Dave & Busters, where he played games to win prizes, which he gave to children. Among other things, he enjoyed boating on Lake Norman and anything Elvis. He also loved to travel about anywhere someone wanted to go, but overall truly enjoyed the simple life.

Mr. Karriker is survived by his wife and best friend Nila Karriker. Mr. Karriker is also survived by two sons, Marty Karriker of Cornelius and Rocky Karriker and wife Lori of Gainesville, GA; brother, Jerry Bradley and wife Sylvia of Mooresville; three sisters, Terrie Norris and husband Cody of China Grove, Shirley Doby and husband Allen of Kannapolis and Brenda Kirby and husband Jimmy of Salisbury; one grandson, Alex Karriker and three granddaughters, Jordan Karriker , Anabella Karriker and Isabella Karriker.

Flowers are being accepted and memorial donations may be sent to Lewy Body Dementia Association at www.lbda.org or 912 Killian Hill Road SW, Lilburn, GA 30047.
