Mr. Frank Leroy Shinn, 96, passed away Saturday, April 2, 2022, at his home in Kannapolis. A memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Saturday, May 14, 2022, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Eddie Spencer will officiate. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:45 pm Saturday at Lady's Funeral Home prior to the service. Mr. Shinn was born May 16, 1925, in Rockwell. He was a son of the late Roy Shinn and Pearl Hammill Shinn. He was a member of Rockwell United Methodist Church. Mr. Shinn was well known for his skills playing the steel guitar, and formerly played with a group called the Highliters. He was an avid golfer, having won the NC Senior Golf Tournament and the local Seniors Tournament five times. He and his wife of 74 years had a joyful life together and liked to travel through the United States. An electronics technician, he retired from Cannon Mills Plant #4 after over 50 years of employment, having helped design and develop textile machinery parts for looms. A very kind-hearted man and do-it-yourselfer, he enjoyed doing and fixing things for others. Mr. Shinn was very young at heart and loved his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Shuping Shinn; son, Barry Gene Shinn; and two sisters, Margaret Correll and Mary Hutchinson. Mr. Shinn is survived by daughter, Connie Lisenby and husband, Ronald, of Kannapolis; three sons, James Shinn and wife, Shirley, of Salisbury; Michael Shinn and wife, Gail, of China Grove and Jeff Shinn of Kannapolis; daughter-in-law, Debby Shinn; two sisters, Helen Lane and Kay Deal and husband, Phillip; nine grandchildren; Gerald Shinn and wife, Jamie, Angie Stevens and husband, Mark, Jonathan Shinn, David Shinn and wife, Renee, Derrick Sweatt and wife, Teresa, Raegan Swaringen and husband, Donnie, Bryan Shinn and wife, Delia, Melissa Shinn, and Brad Shinn and wife, Ashley; 16 great- grandchildren; and eight great-great grandchildren.
