Glenda Jo Simpson

June 5, 1938 — January 3, 2007

Mrs. Glenda Jo Simpson, 68, of 817 Elm Street, went to be with her Lord on January 3, 2007, at NorthEast Medical Center. Having been in declining health, she fought a courageous battle with cancer for the past number of weeks of her life. Funeral services will be conducted at North Kannapolis Baptist Church, Sunday, January 7, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. The Rev. David Prather and the Rev. Coy Privette will officiate. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Lady's Funeral Home from 7 until 9 p.m. Saturday. In 1980, she retired on disability following an injury at work in Fieldcrest-Cannon, where she had worked in the sheet department for 25 years. She was a member of North Kannapolis Baptist Church for 40 years, where she taught Sunday School and worked with the girls programs as long as her health would allow. Glenda was born June 5, 1938 in Cabarrus County to the late, Belma Reid Prevette. She was a loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother. She especially loved her granddaughter, Madison, whom she called her angel. In addition to her mother she was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Henderson, who was from Wilkesboro, NC. Survivors include her husband of 38 years, Kenneth Simpson; a daughter, Teresa Duncan Ayers of Mebane, NC; a sister, Mildred Furr of China Grove; a brother, K.E. Prevette of Loganville, GA; a granddaughter, Madison Ayers; nieces, Tammy Wilkerson, Donna Fortner, Diane Mayes; nephews, Calvin Henderson, Charles Ray Prevette and Tyler Prevette; and eleven great nieces and nephews. Glenda was dearly loved and cherished by her family. She is now free of the bondage of a crippled body and is rejoicing with her Lord.
