Marcus Leo Morgan

Marcus Leo Morgan, 75, passed away Tuesday, November 8, 2016, at W. G. Hefner VA Medical Center in Salisbury.

A funeral service is scheduled for 2:30 pm Friday, November 11, 2016, in Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Jim Grigg, Rev. Gene Edwards, Rev. Curtis Parker, Rev. Mark Murphy and Rev. John Harless will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.

The family will receive friends from 12 to 2:15 pm Friday at Lady's Funeral Home.

Mr. Morgan was born October 5, 1941 in Mooresville. He was the son of the late Fred A. Morgan and Edith Brown Sechler Morgan.

Leo was a Baptist minister, at one time served Blackwolf Baptist Church in Pageton, West Virginia. He served as the associate minister at Franklin Heights Baptist Church for nine years and taught Sunday school for 31 years. He was known as a “Minister’s Friend”. For many years, he was always willing to fill in at any church for any minister when they needed someone. He was also a member of the Gideons and had served in the U.S. Navy. Recently, he was a member of The Brook Church. He had also worked for Mason’s Motors as an auto body rebuilder.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Bud Rodgers.

Mr. Morgan is survived by his wife, Brenda Goodman Morgan; three sons, Randy D. Morgan and wife Terry of Wilmington, Farion L. Morgan and wife Angie of Landis and Bryant Morgan of Kannapolis; two brothers, Jack Morgan and wife Wanda of China Grove and Steve Morgan and wife Janice of Virginia Beach; two sisters, Dianne Pittman of Kannapolis and Linda Hartsell and husband Gene of Tennessee; seven grandchildren, Amanda Overcash and husband Todd, Michael Morgan and wife Chastity of Kannapolis, Hunter Morgan of Salisbury, Mark Morgan of Kannapolis, Amber Blanton and Melonie Correll of Kannapolis and Katrina Brennan and husband Doug of Concord; and eleven great grandchildren.

Memorial for Mr. Morgan may be sent to Gideons International, Kannapolis Camp, P.O. Box 52, Kannapolis, NC 28082.
