Mrs. Annie Ruth Helms Evans, 77, of 516 Eastway Avenue, died Monday, September 25, 2006, at NorthEast Medical Center. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 27, 2006, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Michael Wagner will officiate. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from Noon until 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times, her family will be at her residence on Eastway Avenue. Mrs. Evans was born March 7, 1929 in Union County, NC. She was a daughter of the late, Oscar Helms and Fannie Griffin Helms. She retired from Terry Products after more than 30 years employment. She was an active member of Skyland Baptist Church having taught Sunday school for many years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rudolph Malcolm Evans in September 1995. Mrs. Evans is survived by her daughter, Gail Stegall and her husband, Kenneth of Salisbury; two sisters, Fannie Lee Thomas, of Marshville and Nell Taylor, of Salisbury; two brothers, Bill Helms of Lancaster, SC and Jack Helms of Winston-Salem; two grandchildren, Dina Wagner and Michael Wayne Wagner and his wife, Angel; three great grandchildren, Heather Wagner, Allen Wagner and Aaron Lowe. Memorials may be sent to Skyland Baptist Church, 200 South Little Texas Road, Kannapolis, NC 28083.
