Agbert Davis "A.D." Elrod, 76, of 3709 Bentley Place SW, Concord, died Friday, November 14, 2008, at his home. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, November 16, 2008, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Forest Jones will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from to 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, November 15, 2008, at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times, they will be at the residence. Born April 29, 1932 in Pelham, Georgia, he was the son of the late Agbert Davis Elrod and Effie Mae Davis Elrod. He retired as a self-employed wholesale distributor. He was a member of Concord First Assembly. Survivors include his wife, Margaret Brackin Elrod; three sons, James David Elrod and wife, Beth, of Orange Park, FL, Paul Douglas Elrod of Jacksonville, FL, A. D. Elrod III and wife, Joey, of Smyrna, TN; one daughter, Barbara Alice Means and husband, Dennis, of Cooper, TX; a sister, Doris Whigham of Tampa, FL; two half-sisters, Sally Wise of New Port Richey, FL and Carman Blankenship of Bedford, VA; a half-brother, Walter Joiner of Hosford, FL; six grandchildren, Jennifer Kimberly, Shelly Marie Elrod, Zachary Stephen Elrod, Alex David Elrod, Barbara Ann Beech and Alicia Molasses; and three great-grandchildren, Trinity Kimberly, Tristen Kimberly and Jonathan Michael Hubbard.
