Alice Rymer Bates

Alice Rymer Bates, 87, of Transitional Health Services, and formerly of 2630 Old Beatty Ford Road, China Grove, died Monday morning, August 13, 2007 at Transitional Health Services. A funeral service is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 15, 2007, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Donald McManus officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:15 PM Wednesday at Lady's Funeral Home. Mrs. Bates was born July 21, 1920 in Rowan County, a daughter of the late A. M. Rymer and Lillie Beaver Rymer. She was also preceded in death by her husband, David Clyde Bates and a daughter, Linda Bates Smith. She retired in 1982 from Cannon Mills, Plant one Spinning Room after more than 40 years of employment. Mrs. Bates was a member of Rodgers Park Reform Church. Mrs. Bates is survived by a son, David D. Bates and wife Lillian of China Grove. One sister also survives, Cora Weddington and husband Ray of China Grove.
