Alma Walter Lequire

Mrs. Alma Walter Lequire, 83, of 4885 Hilton Lake Road, Kannapolis, died Sunday, August 7, 2005, at her residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, August 12, 2005, at Mt. Mitchell United Methodist Church. The Rev. Karen Kaser-Odor will officiate. The body will be taken to the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, August 11, 2005, at Lady's Funeral Home. Born July 27, 1922, in Cabarrus County, she was a daughter of the late Martin Monroe Walter, Sr. and Minnie Allmon Walter. She was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Mitchell United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Willing Workers Circle and the Sunshine Group. She also participated in the senior adult activities at Concord First Assembly. Mrs. Lequire was a Worthy Matron in the Eastern Star and a member of the White Shrine. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Dibrel Lequire, who died December 23, 1992. Survivors include a son, Jerry LeQuire and wife, Nancy, of Salisbury; a daughter, Jean Chandler and husband, Ronald, of Kannapolis; four sisters, Doris Turner, Lessie Hudson and Frances Slough, all of Kannapolis and Jerline Helms of Ohio; two brothers, Clarence Walter and Martin Monroe Walter, Jr., both of Kannapolis; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
