Alvin Bradford “Brad” Ballard, 73, passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2015, at his home.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm Saturday, May 30, 2015, at Calvary Baptist Church. Rev. Beaver Hammond will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 11 to 2:45 pm Saturday at Calvary Baptist Church prior to the service.

Mr. Ballard was born on May 27, 1941 in Rowan County. He was a son of the late Alvin Norman Ballard and Edna Mae Kerley Ballard. He graduated from A.L. Brown High School. He retired from IBM in 1996 as a shipping and receiving clerk. Mr. Ballard was a lifelong member of Calvary Baptist Church where he also served as a deacon. His church was his second home. Brad enjoyed spending time at his home on Lake Norman. He also enjoyed deep sea fishing. He loved his children and grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Cynthia Locklear Ballard; and brother, Alvin Norman Ballard.

Mr. Ballard is survived by his three children, Bryon Layne Ballard of Salisbury, Crystal B. Clark and husband, Tony, of China Grove and Brad Alan “Buster” Ballard and fiancé, Emily Hartzog; sister, Delores Hall of Kannapolis; five grandchildren, BryAnna Ballard, Arey Grace Clark, Cyndale Clark, Katelyn Ballard and Rylee; and great granddaughter, Gracelyn Sangricco.
