Atha Lemones Gibbs

Mr. Atha Lemones Gibbs, 79, of 117 Autumn Lane, Harrisburg, NC died Tuesday, January 8, 2003, at NorthEast Medical Center. Graveside services are scheduled for Friday, January 10, 2003, at Carolina Memorial Park. Rev. Ray Rippy will officiate. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9:00 PM Thursday at Lady's Funeral Home. Mr. Gibbs was born September 6, 1923 in Hyde County, NC. He was a son of the late Johnny T. Gibbs and Nancy Gibbs. He was a retired truck driver for Thurston Motor Lines for 41 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Casey Gibbs, in 1996. Mr. Gibbs is survived by a daughter, Linda G. Starnes of Mt. Pleasant, NC; two sons, Johnny Gibbs of Harrisburg and Sherman Gibbs of Lowell, NC; two sisters, Arlie Flowers and Colleen Cahoon, both of Engelhard, NC; seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and nine great-great grandchildren.
