Mr. Athony "Tony" Baxter Boone, 80, passed away Monday, May 11, 2026, at his home in Kannapolis.

A funeral service is scheduled for 1:00 pm Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Mike Roper will officiate. Interment with military funeral honors will follow at Salisbury National Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 12 to 12:45 pm Tuesday at Lady's Funeral Home.

Athony was born May 11, 1946 in Wadesboro. He was a son of the late Jesse James Boone and Frances Belle Norris Boone. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and later worked for the United States Civil Service as an Arborist. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and Botany. He loved spending time outdoors, enjoying nature.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by six brothers, John Boone, Ralph Boone, Eddie Boone, Paul Boone, Vernon Boone, Robert Boone; and three sisters, Evelyn Boone, Mildred Richardson, Lillian Harmon.

Athony is survived by two sons, Justin Boone (Sarah) of Kannapolis and Athony Baxter Boone, II of Chapel Hill, TN; daughter, Melina Boone of Charlotte; six grandchildren, Tyler Boone, Evan Boone, Kyle Boone, Jesse Boone, Braedon Boone and Aislynn Boone; one great grandchild, Aurora Boone.
