Mrs. Barbara Sue Rainwater Lentz, 81, passed away Thursday, March 5, 2026, at Preston House in Charlotte.

A private graveside service is scheduled for 1:00 pm Thursday, March 12, 2026, at West Lawn Memorial Park. Pastor Mack King, IV will officiate.

Barbara was born January 11, 1945 in Cabarrus County. She was a daughter of the late Bennie William Rainwater, Sr. and Ida Belle Wiggins Rainwater. She married Tom Lentz where they lived in China Grove for over 50 years of marriage. She spent her years as a homemaker, involved in the children's activities and many crafts that range from sewing, quilting, embroidery, painting and basket making. She stayed busy with her craft groups, gardening, cooking and loved to shop. She was never one to sit still or spend anytime in front of the TV. She was a member of First Methodist Church in China Grove.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Tom Lentz; and brother, Bennie Rainwater, Jr..

Barbara is survived by son, Larry Lentz (Kim) of China Grove; daughter, Christine Quigley (Dave) of Snow Camp; sister-in-law, Myrtle Lentz of China Grove; four grandchildren, Alex and Breanna Lentz and Erin Smith (Barry) and Kasey Coffey (Trevor); and a great granddaughter, Sutton.
