Mrs. Beatrice Garver Owens, 92, went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, February 13, 2013, at Liberty Commons Nursing Center.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 pm Saturday, February 16, 2013, at Lady'��s Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Willie Rash will officiate. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:45 pm Saturday at Lady'��s Funeral Home.
Beatrice (Bea) was born December 21, 1920 in Landis. She was a daughter of the late William Mitchell Garver and Emma Paly Gallimore Garver. Beatrice attended school in Kannapolis where she acquired a love of reading. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Bea was happily married for 53 years to Paul Alexander Owens who preceded her in death July 19, 1990. She devoted her life to her children. She was a faithful member of Centerview Baptist Church in Kannapolis. She loved the Lord and her church family and she prayed daily for everyone she knew. Bea and her husband loved to travel and took many enjoyable trips. She especially loved spending time at the beach with her family.
Through July of 2012, she was a resident of Oak Park Retirement and was known and loved as "��Ms. Bea"��. This was a very special time in her life and she celebrated her 90th birthday there with many of her friends and family.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Faye Tucker; three brothers, Bill Garver, William Mitchell Garver and Bobby Gene Garver; and a son-in-law, Carl Whitaker.
Bea is survived by two daughters, Linda Deaver and husband Bill of China Grove and Patricia "��Pat"�� Whitaker of Boise, ID; son, Paul A. Owens, Jr. and wife Pat of Charlotte; two special daughters, Lou Kimball of Landis and Jennifer Comer of Salisbury; brother, David Garver and wife Marie of Kannapolis; seven grandchildren, Greg and Pam Orndorff of Lincolnton, Greg and Lisa Whitaker of San Diego, CA, Shaun and Tanya Crooks of Monroe, Steve and Kelly Sherin of Indian Trail, Jeff and Gail Owens of Charlotte, Chris and Tammy Whitaker of Gilbert, AZ and Scott and Kristin Pence of Glen Allen, VA; and 10 great grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of Liberty Commons Nursing Center for all of the love and care given to Bea.
