Betty Parker Barker Overcash, 92, passed away on August 22, 2022 at the Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House in Salisbury after several years of declining health.
The funeral will be 11:00 am Wednesday, August 24, 2022, at the Lady’s Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Eddie Spencer will officiate. Burial will be private for the family.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 10:45 am Wednesday at Lady's Funeral Home prior to the service.
Born on August 28, 1929 in Cabarrus County, Mrs. Overcash was a daughter of the late John Harrison Parker, Sr. and Vera Belle Davis Parker.
Mrs. Overcash was educated in Kannapolis City Schools where she was class valedictorian, and she graduated from Lees-McRae College. She worked for many years in the finance department of Kannapolis City Schools from which she retired. Her church membership was with the First Presbyterian Church in Kannapolis.
She was affectionately known as “Mamaw Cash” to her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Billy Gray Barker and Lloyd Cardine Overcash; siblings, Beatrice Parker Caldwell and John Harrison Parker, Jr., and her son, Samuel Gray Barker.
Survivors are her sons; David Kevin Barker (Mandy) and Timothy Eric Barker (Tammy), daughter in law; Crystal Sells Barker as well as her grandchildren; Kristin Barker Losh (Matt), Patrick David Barker (Alexah), Kaitlyn Brooke Honeycutt, Andrew Ryan Barker (Ariail) and Thomas Clinton Barker (Katie) and her great grandchildren; Skyler Ann Smith, Kaitlyn Brook Losh, Brynnleigh Reese Barker and Matterson Gray Barker. Also surviving are the children of her second husband and their families; Elizabeth Overcash McLester (Jerry), Cristal Overcash Bayne (Mike) and Eric Lloyd Overcash (Diane).
The family wishes to thank her devoted in-home caregivers as well as the staff of The Meadows of Rockwell, Novant Health Rowan Hospice and Dr. Chet Amin for their professional, compassionate, and loving care.
