Betty Wensil Long

Mrs. Betty Wensil Long, 76, a loving mother and grandmother, went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, November 14, 2007. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, November 17, 2007, at Lane Street Baptist Church. The Rev. Michael Edwards will officiate. Interment will follow at Mt. Mitchell United Methodist Church Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the residence. Born March 1, 1931 in Cabarrus County, Mrs. Long was the daughter of the late Clarence Thomas Wensil and Rebecca Louise Whitley Wensil. She retired from the washcloth department of Cannon Mills. Following her retirement, she worked at Best of Care. Mrs. Long was a member of Lane Street Baptist Church, where she sand in the choir and formerly taught Sunday school. Her husband, Thomas Wilson Long, preceded her in death on January 3, 1996. Survivors include twin sons, Donald Long and wife, Wanda, Ronald Long and wife, Beverly, all of Salisbury; four sisters, Faye Deal, Martha Kimrey, Catherine Plyler and Lorine Warren; two brothers, Hoye Wensil and Tommy Wensil; five grandchildren, Ricky Long and wife, Kara, Adonica Long Thomas and husband, Michael, Aaron Long, Hannah Long and Rebekah Long; three step-grandchildren, Brandy Tomlin, Jamie Jordan and Ruby Ann Jordan; and four step-great-grandchildren, Breanna Tomlin, Tyler Tomlin, Carleigh Tomlin and Makenzi Jordan.
