Betty Lyerly Sides

Mrs. Betty Ruth Lyerly Sides, 88, passed away Thursday, April 13, 2017, at Tucker Hospice House.

A funeral service is scheduled for 4:00 pm Saturday, April 15, 2017, at North Kannapolis United Methodist Church. Rev. Ron Hartman will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3:45 pm Saturday at North Kannapolis United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Sides was born February 7, 1929 and raised in Concord. She was a daughter of the late Art Baxter Lyerly and Mamie Clayton Lyerly. She retired from Kannapolis Merchant’s Association where she was a supervisor. She was a member of North Kannapolis United Methodist Church where she was a former Sunday school teacher and a member of the United Methodist Women.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Art Baxter “AB” Lyerly, Jr.

Mrs. Sides is survived by her husband, Herman Reid Sides, Sr.; son, H. Reid Sides, Jr. of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL; daughter, Myra Sides Combs of Kannapolis; sister, Margaret Jean Kluttz of Concord; three grandchildren, Col. Wesley Reid Sides, Sarah Combs Boyd and Holly Combs Fox; and seven great grandchildren, Wyatt, Hadley, Devin, William, Bailey, Harrison and Chelsea.
