Obituary

Mrs. Beverly Zoe Sloop Mullis, 79, passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at her home in Kannapolis.

A funeral service is scheduled for 1:00 pm Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Latosha Jenkins and Rev. Dr. Greg Gordon will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.

The family will receive friends from 11 to 12:45 pm Wednesday at Lady's Funeral Home.

Beverly was born September 24, 1946 in Mooresville. She was the daughter of the late William Russell Sloop and Lucille Dayvault Sloop. She retired from Cannon Mills/Fieldcrest-Cannon Plant 1, where she faithfully worked as an inspector in the Sewing Room for many years. A longtime member of Jackson Park United Methodist Church, she treasured her faith, the friendships she made, and the community she called home.

She found great joy in life's simple pleasures, especially spending time with her dear friend, Ann Sherrill, and looking forward to the monthly gatherings with her high school classmates, where cherished memories were shared and lifelong friendships continued to grow. She rarely missed her afternoon stories and enjoyed watching Blue Bloods. Fascinated by owls, she delighted in their beauty and mystery. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and friends, and her faithful companion, Brody, held a very special place in her heart, bringing her comfort, companionship, and countless happy moments.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Jackson Mullis; and a brother, Ted Russ Sloop.

Beverly is survived by two sons, Michael C. Hill (Kimberly) and David R. Hill (Lisa), both of Kannapolis; three grandchildren, Tanner Garrison, Amanda Garrison and Chance Garrison; three step-grandchildren, Adrian Pratt, Aaron Norris and Amanda Norris; two step-great grandchildren, Ace Norris and Eden Norris; and five great grandchildren.

Memorials may be sent to Jackson Park United Methodist Church, 715 Mable Avenue, Kannapolis, NC 28083.
