Mr. Bill Edward Mauldin, 80, of 1520 Ivy Meadow Drive #925, Charlotte, and formerly of First Assembly Living Center in Concord, died Thursday, May 15, 2003, at his residence, with his family by his side. Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Sunday, May 18, 2003, at Lane Street Baptist Church in Kannapolis. Dr. Greg Pierce will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park with Masonic Graveside Rites conducted by Excelsior Masonic Lodge No. 261 of Charlotte. The family will receive friends from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Lady's Funeral Home in Kannapolis. Born August 22, 1922, in Rowan County, he was a son of the late James Mauldin and the late Fannie Biles Mauldin. Mr. Mauldin retired several years ago from Federated Stores. He later worked part-time at Cheetah Transportation in Mooresville and owned and operated Bill's Burglar Alarms in Charlotte. He was a member of Lane Street Baptist Church in Kannapolis, and Excelsior Masonic Lodge No. 261. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Mitchell Mauldin, who died January 4, 2001; a sister, Bea Davis; and three brothers, Monroe Mauldin, Bob Mauldin and Glenn Mauldin. Survivors include a daughter, Janice Lee Bowers of Charlotte, with whom he made his home; a son, William Jeffrey Mauldin and his wife, Corilee, of Charlotte; two sisters, Lorene "Pug" Coggins and Doris Plowman, both of Kannapolis; and three grandchildren, Season Leigh Batts, William Brandon Batts and Mykel Elizabeth Bowers, all of Charlotte.
