Billie Jo Hurst Galloway

Billie Jo Hurst Galloway of Kannapolis went home to be with her Savior, Jesus on Thursday, October 14, 2010. A funeral service is scheduled for 3:30 pm Sunday, October 17, 2010, at Memorial Baptist Church where she was a member. Rev. Tim McQueen will officiate. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3:15 pm Sunday at Memorial Baptist Church. Billie graduated from A.L. Brown High School, where she was in the chorus. During the summers of high school, she worked in Head Start programs where she loved and was loved by the children. She did volunteer work for the PTL Club. She worked briefly in Cannon Mills and was attending Rowan Cabarrus Community College studying childcare when her deteriorating health caused her to become partially bedridden. She is preceded in death by her father William "Bill" Hurst. She is survived by her husband, Norman B. "Sonny" Galloway, of 36 years on November 27th; mother, Doris Clark Hurst of Kannapolis; sisters, Penny Hurst Houser (Melvin) of Concord and Candy Smith (John) of Davidson; niece, Amber Widenhouse; nephews, Todd and Brian Widenhouse, Dustin and Cody Smith; half sister, Sandra Mervine Miller (Alan) of Concord and their children, Lynn, Eddie, Buddy, Cassie and their grandchildren; half brother, Richard "Sonny" and wife Hope of Florida and their children, Tye and Matt and their grandchildren; special aunt, Tommie Campbell (Don); aunt, Elese Hurst Davis; and brother-in-law, Bill Galloway (Virginia).
