Billy Fillmore Deaver Jr., who was born on October 27, 1946, peacefully transitioned into the kingdom of Heaven on July 26, 2024. Bill was a prominent figure in his community, renowned for his unwavering commitment to his profession as an educator and assistant principal in Rowan County. He imparted knowledge at China Grove Middle School and later served as an assistant principal at South Rowan High School.
Bill devoted most of his life to the enrichment and betterment of the youth in Rowan County through his educational leadership. He graduated from Appalachian State with a degree in political science and a minor in history and later graduated from UNC Charlotte with a masters in human development and learning.
In Heaven, Bill has joyfully reunited with his cherished wife of 52 years, Linda Deaver. Together, Bill and Linda shared countless adventures exploring various parts of America, with a particularly memorable journey to Alaska.
A familiar sight at Porky’s in China Grove, Bill could often be found every morning engaging in fellowship with his friends. Bill had a remarkable talent for forming connections with individuals he encountered, thanks to his extensive knowledge across diverse subjects and his skill in engaging in meaningful conversations.
Bill's journey with the Lord began with his upbringing at Landis Baptist Church to membership at Centerview Baptist Church where he served as deacon and Sunday School director. Later he attended First Baptist Church of China Grove.
Preceding Bill in death were his parents, Bill and Virginia Deaver, sister Laura Jackson, and his wife Linda Deaver.
Left to cherish Bill’s memories are: his brother Kevin Deaver (Karen), brother-in-law Rick Jackson (Susan), sister-in-law Pat Owens; niece Kelli Bostian (Eric), nephew John Jackson (Rachel); his very special great nieces Kaitlyn Bostian and Hattie Jackson, and his many students and friends.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County and Olivia Morgan for their incredible care and service to Bill and the compassion extended to the family.
Please join us in honoring the life of Bill at the Carolina Memorial Park Mausoleum on Sunday, August 4th, 2024 at 2:30 pm, where JR Beaver will preside over the service.
