Mr. Billy Cleveland Hailey, 76, of 534 West 8th Street, died Saturday, November 24, 2007, at CMC-NorthEast in Concord. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:30 am Wednesday, November 28, 2007, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Elder Rom Kerley will officiate. Burial is follow at 3:00 pm at Norman's Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Lawndale, NC. Rev. Cecil Buff will officiate the interment services. The family will receive friends from 10:30 to 11:30 am Wednesday at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times, the family will be at the residence of Mr. Hailey. Mr. Hailey was born September 30, 1931 in Rowan County. He was a son of the late Joe Hailey and Mary Vanhoy Hailey. He was a member of Mills Chapel Primitive Baptist Church for many years and was a barber in Kannapolis for 55 years. In 1950, he graduated from Cannon High School and has served with the Rowan County Rescue Squad for 45 years, and as a security guard at Skateland USA for 18 years. He served for 32 years as a Special Deputy with the Rowan County Sheriff's Department and was the first Special Deputy in North Carolina to receive the Advanced Service Award from the North Carolina Sheriff's Association. Mr. Hailey is survived by his wife, Inez Willis Hailey; sister, Jo Ann Pressley of Kannapolis; niece, Angela Pressley; nephew, Mike Pressley.
