Billy Lee "Bill" Miller, 68, of 1250 Dial Street, Kannapolis, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, surrounded by family and friends at Hospice House, on Wednesday, October 7, 2009, after a five and one-half year battle with cancer. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday, October 10, 2009, at North Kannapolis Baptist Church. The Rev. Chris O'Guin, the Rev. David P. Franks, and Dr. R. J. Hammond will officiate. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park, China Grove. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1 to 2:45 p.m. Saturday at North Kannapolis Baptist Church. At other times, they will be at the home. Born June 6, 1941 in Caldwell County, Mr. Miller was the son of the late Celo Perkins Miller and Alma Barnes Miller Long. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his stepfather, William Ralph Long; and a granddaughter, Lauren Elizabeth Miller. Bill was employed for 36 years with Duke Power Company, where he was a coatings technician. He was an active member of North Kannapolis Baptist Church, where he was a guitarist for the Youth Choir in earlier years. A lifelong musician, he touched many lives with his special musical gifts. He also shared his time, talent and love of painting throughout his life with many others. Bill participated in activities with the Baptist Men at his church. He was an active member of the NC Falcon Club. He was an avid deer hunter, fisherman, Nascar fan, and had a passion for restoration. Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Bonnie Sue Keziah Miller; two daughters, Natalie Carla Miller of the home, Laura Leigh Miller Tadlock and husband Carl of China Grove; a sister, Mary Alexander and husband Norman of Kannapolis; two brothers, James Miller and wife Bertha Mae of Rockwell, Jerry Wayne Long and wife Dianna of Kannapolis; and three grandchildren, whom he deeply loved and displayed this by his active involvement in every aspect of their lives, Leah Margaret Miller of the home, Preston Miller Tadlock and Carleigh Sue Tadlock, both of China Grove. Memorials may be sent to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081. The family expresses thanks to the many family members and friends for their dedicated time, love and support during Bill's illness.
