Blair Houston Sigmon

Mr. Blair Houston Sigmon, 91, of 596 Burrage Road NE, Concord, died Monday, January 20, 2003, at his home. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, January 25, 2003, at First Presbyterian Church in Kannapolis. Dr. Joseph R. Crawford will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park with military honors conducted by DAV Chapter 27 of Concord. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church. At other times they will be at the residence. Born February 8, 1911, in Lincoln County, he was a son of the late Pinkney Lee Sigmon and the late Ida Cloninger Sigmon. Mr. Sigmon was a 1938 graduate of N. C. State and retired in 1983 from Cannon Mills Company. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Kannapolis. He was a US Army veteran of World War II and served in Europe under General Patton during several campaigns, including the Battle of the Bulge. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters. Survivors include his wife, Martha Black Sigmon; a daughter, Jane Sigmon Dunne and her husband, Jack, of Mint Hill; a son, B. Hugh Sigmon and his wife, Paula Wiles Sigmon, of Chappaqua, NY; and four grandchildren, Sean Patrick Dunne, Ian Cameron Dunne, Eric Benjamin Sigmon and Jeremy Paul Sigmon. Memorials may be sent to First Presbyterian Church, 201 Vance Street, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
