Mr. Boyd Franklin Wagoner, 81, of 515 Evelyn Avenue, Kannapolis, died Wednesday, July 25, 2007, at his home. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 28, 2007, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Dr. Tom Parrish and the Rev. David Parrish will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:45 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. At other times, they will be at the residence. Born December 4, 1925, in Rowan County, he was the son of the late Pink James Wagoner and Martha Ervin Wagoner. He was a retired truck driver, having worked for many years with Service Distributing and later for Propst Brothers Distributors. He was a member of Elwood Lane Free Will Baptist Church. Boyd was known for his love for music. He formed Boyd Wagoner and the Black Mountain Boys, and the group was heard on radio stations for many years. Survivors include his wife, Sadie Funderburk Wagoner; a son, Jerry Wagoner and wife, Linda, of Salisbury; a daughter, Pattie Edmiston and husband, Rock, of Kannapolis; four sisters, Louise Bost, Mary Linker, Ruby Wagoner and Betty Wingler, all of Kannapolis; two grandchildren, Leslie Roscoe and husband, Adam of Enochville, Travis Edmiston and wife, Crystal, of Kannapolis; a step-grandson, Brent Dowell and wife, Audra, of Columbia, SC; and five great-grandchildren, Justin Hurst, Victoria Edmiston, Jaclyn Edmiston, Ashleigh Edmiston and Alisha Edmiston.
