Brenda Sue Wise Epley

June 26, 1942 — November 14, 2025

China Grove

Brenda "Sue" Wise Epley, 81, peacefully passed away on Friday, November 14, 2025 in her home. She was born on June 26th, 1942, in China Grove, NC to the late Margaret White Wise and Earl Wise. Sue is predeceased by her husband, William Epley; and her sister, Clara Flowe; and her brothers, Gerald, Bernard and Bill Wise.

Sue graduated from nursing school with her RN in 1966 and worked as a nurse at Rowan Memorial Hospital and Lexington Memorial Hospital, where her favorite memories were with the pediatric population. After having children, Sue became the full-time office manager for her husband’s business, Epley Electric, while continuing her career working part-time at a local nursing home.

Sue was a natural born care giver and went back to school to continue her nursing education in 1991. She graduated from Winston-Salem State University with a BS in Nursing in 1993. Sue returned to the healthcare workforce and worked for Lexington Memorial Hospital.

She was most passionate and happy when working in her favorite positions as a Parish Nurse at Bethany Methodist Church in Lexington and as a community educator for Wake Forest Hospital. She served in these roles with much joy and never-ending energy. In her role as Parish Nurse, she conducted health assessments for congregation members and frequently facilitated and participated in their medical appointments. She regularly attended church events and consistently provided health-related guidance to those in need. Sue was well known among Lexington City staff and at elementary schools through her work as a community educator. She conducted health screenings, promoted nutrition and safety, sometimes wearing themed costumes, and taught over 100 “Safe Sitter” babysitting courses.

Sue grew up as a member of Mt. Moriah Lutheran Church in China Grove, NC. Sue joined Pilgrim Lutheran Church after she and William moved to Ridge Road to raise their family. This began many years of active service to the church including multiple terms as President of the Church Council, Secretary of the Church Council, Sunday School Teacher, Youth Group Leader, choir member, and chair of other various committees.

In addition to her service at church, Sue is remembered for being a charter member of Davidson County Adults and Children with Learning Disabilities (ACLD), as she was always a steadfast advocate and lifetime education supporter, for her son, Billy.

Sue will be remembered as a compassionate, devoted nurse, a dedicated volunteer, and a faithful member of her church. Her selfless acts of kindness and unwavering love for her family and community will forever be an inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in peace.

Sue is survived by her son Billy Epley, of China Grove, daughter Donna Trivette (Robert) of Kitty Hawk and son Jason Epley (Amy) of China Grove and her grandchildren, Emmy and Maura Trivette, and Matthew, Daniel and Rachel Epley.
