Mrs. Hopkins was born April 23, 1950 in Cabarrus County. She was a daughter of the late William Arthur Ranson and Wandeline Witherspoon Ranson. She was a 1968 graduate of A.L. Brown High School. Although she never had any children of her own, her many nieces and nephews were her source of pride and joy. She loved collecting their pictures and she beamed about their accomplishments. Brenda was an excellent cook and spent many years as a seamstress. Another source of her joy over the years were her pet dogs who were her babies.
On February 14, 1970, she married Don Hopkins and they spent 47 precious years together before the Lord called Brenda Home. Brenda was a member of North Kannapolis Wesleyan Church. This was the church that she was born and raised in and had attended all her life except for the years she lived in SC. She loved her church and enjoyed going when she was physically able.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brother, David Arthur Ranson; and sister, Martha Carroll Ranson.
Mrs. Hopkins is survived by her husband of 47 years, Donald Milton “Don” Hopkins; four sisters, Janice Nelson and husband Larry of Ormond Beach, FL, Marlene Hampton and husband Perry of Mocksville, Melonie Teal and husband Mike of Kannapolis, and Carolyn Guzman and husband Fred of Oviedo, FL; and many nieces and nephews that were her pride and joy.
The family wishes to thank the staff of the Third Floor ICU at Carolinas HealthCare System-NorthEast for their kindness to the family and the wonderful care for Brenda during the three days she was there.
Memorials may be made to North Kannapolis Wesleyan Church, 314 West 12th Street, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
