Mrs. Brennie Workman Caton, 99, of Raleigh and formerly of Kannapolis, died Wednesday, May 12, 2004, at Raleigh Rehab and Healthcare. A graveside service will be conducted 2:30 p.m. Sunday, May 16, 2004, at Carolina Memorial Park. Dr. Howard Tyas, pastor of Kirkwood Presbyterian Church in Kannapolis will officiate. The family will receive friends at the cemetery following the service. Born February 1, 1905, in Stockton County, SC, she was a daughter of the late John James Workman and Martha Nancy Martin Workman. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church in Kannapolis. Mrs. Caton was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Lee Caton, who died May 16, 1980. Survivors include a son, Stanley L. Caton, Sr. of Raleigh; a sister, Mary J. Simpson of Margate, Florida; a brother, Astor Workman of Charlotte; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
