Brooks Deaton Brown

Brooks Deaton Brown, 89, of Landis, passed away on Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at Big Elm Nursing Center in Kannapolis. He was born November 20, 1919 to the late William Monroe Brown and Winnie Deaton Brown. He graduated from Landis High School in 1936. Brooks married Virginia Alexander on August 15, 1942. He served in the U.S. Navy in the pacific during World War II. He retired as Postmaster of the Landis Post Office in 1972, and was also retired from the Navy Reserve. He was a lifetime member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Landis. Mr. Brown is survived by his wife, Virginia; daughter, Barbara Atwell and husband, Bobby; grandson, Adrian Parker and wife, Lindsey. Funeral service will be Saturday, January 3, 2009 at 2 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Landis, officiated by Pastor Jarrod Lanning. Interment was at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:15 to 1:45 p.m. before the funeral. Memorials may be sent to Trinity Lutheran Church Building Fund, 108 W. Rice Street, Landis, NC 28088.
