Calvin Eugene Faggart

Mr. Calvin Eugene Faggart, 77, of Rimertown Road, passed away Thursday, January 3, 2013, at his residence.

A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Saturday, January 5, 2013, at Phaniels Baptist Church. His two sons, Gene and Jeff Faggart will officiate. Burial with military honors will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:45 pm Saturday at the church prior to the service.

Mr. Faggart was born July 4, 1935 in Rowan County. He was the son of the late Paul Eugene Faggart and Margaret Rose Bost Faggart. Calvin was an Eagle Scout and was a veteran of the US Army having served from 1958-1960. He enjoyed all outdoor activities and was especially fond of his grandchildren.

He was a barber for more than 50 years and was a Baptist minister for 11 years. He was a graduate of Fruitland Baptist Bible Institute and Southeastern Baptist Seminary. He served as an Associate Pastor at Sharon Baptist Church in Concord and served as Pastor of Broadus Memorial Baptist in Concord. He was a charter and current member of Harvest Baptist Church.

Mr. Faggart is survived by his wife, Annie Daves Faggart; two sons, Gene Faggart and wife Teresa of Rockwell and Jeff Faggart and wife Danielle of Kannapolis; two sisters, Vivian Fisher of Concord and Gail Roberson and husband Jack of China Grove; and seven grandchildren, Matthew, Elisabeth, Rebekah, Samuel, Iris Ann, J.D. and Paul Faggart.
