Calvin Melton Lake

Rev. Calvin Melton Lake, 84, died Thursday, December 11, 2003, at Avante at Concord. Funeral services will be conducted 12:30 p.m. Monday, December 15, 2003, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Tom Sandquist will officiate. Interment will follow at the National Cemetery in Salisbury. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Born January 22, 1919, in Absecon, NJ, he was a son of the late Vincent Ira Lake and Mary Ida Brittain Lake. He was a retired Baptist minister and previously served as a missionary with American Missions. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Robert Lake; one sister and two brothers. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Armstrong Lake; two daughters, Jean Commerford and her husband, Tom, of Kannapolis and Nancy Gibson and her husband, Bill, of Ventnor, NJ; three sisters, Doris Lord of Linwood, NJ, Leona Ryan and Frances Streaker, both of St. Leonard, MD; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Memorials may be sent to Concord Bible Church, 711 Williamsburg Court NE, Concord, NC 28025.
