Carl Oscar Blackwelder

November 18, 1925 — July 19, 2012

Mr. Carl Oscar Blackwelder, 86, passed away Thursday, July 19, 2012 at his home.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, July 21, 2012 at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Edwin Luther and Rev. Steve Beam will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 pm, Friday, July 20, 2012 at Lady's Funeral Home.

Mr. Blackwelder was born November 18, 1925 in Kannapolis. He was the son of the late Carl Dexter Blackwelder and Rosa Hartsell Blackwelder. He was a veteran of the US Army in World War II and a member of North Kannapolis Wesleyan Church. Mr. Blackwelder was instrumental in organizing the Allen Fire Department and the Cabarrus County Saddle Club. He worked for various commercial construction companies as Construction Project Manager.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary McAnulty Blackwelder and step-mother, Dorothy Bost Blackwelder.

Mr. Blackwelder is survived by his sister, Lois Blackwelder of Kannapolis and Concord; sister-in-law, Betty Fay Clontz and brother-in-laws, Earl McAnulty and Lewis McAnulty all of Concord.
