Mr. Carl Anderson (Kluttz) Mecimore, , 83, passed away Tuesday, June 19, 2018, at his home in China Grove surrounded by his loving family.
A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 am Saturday, June 23, 2018, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. David Hayes will officiate. Interment with NC National Guard Honors will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 pm Friday at Lady's Funeral Home.
Mr. Mecimore was born January 26, 1935 in Belmont. He was a son of the late Cecil Kluttz and Gertrude Mecimore Kluttz. He was a member of South China Grove Baptist Church and a life member of both the VFW in Salisbury and the NC National Guard Association. He served five years in the US Marine Corps and retired as a Staff Sergeant in the NC National Guard. Mr. Mecimore won many awards, including the Army Service Ribbon, two National Defense Service Medals with Bronze Stars, Expert M-16 Rifle Badge, Army Reserve Achievement Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, NCO Professional Ribbon, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Naval Occupational Medal, Kuwait Liberation Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal with three Bronze Stars, and served Combat Tours of Operation Desert Shield/Storm.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wife, Lois Snow Mattox Mecimore; son, Curtis Kluttz; grandson, William D. Kluttz; step-son, Butch Mattox; and step-daughter, Kay Knece.
Mr. Mecimore is survived by daughter, Jackie Mueller and husband Terry of China Grove; two brothers, Cecil M. Kluttz, Jr. and wife Gayle of Gretna, LA and Eddie M. Kluttz and wife Lori of China Grove; five sisters, Sarah Beaver and husband Clyde of China Grove, Louise Walker and husband Paul of Mt. Pleasant, Cecilia Smith and husband Eugene and Brenda Thomas and husband Randy, both of China Grove, and Glenda Robinson and husband Gary of Salisbury; and granddaughter, Courtney Needham and husband Matt of Kannapolis; and numerous other grandchildren and great grandchildren.
