Carl Lee "Mutt" Wilson, 64, of 222 Hahn Street, Concord, died Friday, October 31, 2003, at NorthEast Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 3, 2003, at New Gilead Reformed United Church of Christ. The Rev. Daniel Smith will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the residence. Born May 18, 1939, in Kannapolis, he was a son of the late Charlie Wilson and Annie Cook Wilson. He was a lifelong resident of Kannapolis and attended Winecoff School. He was employed for 47 years at Cannon Mills, Fieldcrest-Cannon and Pillowtex, Plant One in Kannapolis. Mr. Wilson was an active member of the Kannapolis Moose Lodge and was named "Moose of the Year" in 1997, and received the "Fellowship Degree of Honor" in 2001. His Moose Lodge activities also included serving as a trustee and the Inner Guard for District VI. He was a member of New Gilead Reformed United Church of Christ where he served as Sunday School secretary, treasurer; Youth Fellowship leader, and served as a church and civic softball coach. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Kathleen Brigman; and two brothers, Leroy Wilson and Denell Wilson. Survivors include his wife, Janice Aldridge Wilson; one daughter, Darlene Wilson Riggs and her husband, Jim Riggs, of Kings Mountain; a brother; Doug Wilson of Kannapolis; two grandchildren, Alan Wilson Riggs and Erin Frances Riggs; and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorials may be sent to New Gilead Reformed United Church of Christ, 2400 Old Salisbury Concord Road, Concord, NC 28025.
