Mr. Carlie “Maynard” Bumgarner, 88, passed away Friday, January 30, 2015, at W.G. Hefner Medical Center Liberty Lane Hospice House in Salisbury.
A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Monday, February 2, 2015, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Entombment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park Chapel Mausoleum in Kannapolis.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 1:45 pm Monday at Lady's Funeral Home.
Mr. Bumgarner was born August 22, 1926 in Taylorsville. He was a son of the late Dugan Bumgarner and Emma Deal Bumgarner. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and retired from the Merchant Marines after 36 years of service. He was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed hunting and gardening. Maynard loved spending time in the mountains, especially around his hometown of Taylorsville. He was a member of the NRA for many years and was also a member of the Kannapolis Moose Lodge.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Lou and Betty Bumgarner; and four brothers, Jerry, A.B., Ernest and Hansel Bumgarner.
Mr. Bumgarner is survived by his wife, Mary Seagraves Bumgarner; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the W.G. Hefner VA Medical Center, Liberty Lane Hospice House, 1601 Brenner Ave., Salisbury, NC 28144.
