Mrs. Carmeltia Shinn Rodgers, 72, a resident of the Brian Center in Salisbury and formerly of Stevens Street in China Grove, died Friday, December 5, 2003, at the Brian Center. Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Monday, December 8, 2003, at China Grove Church of God. The Rev. Roger Lunsford will officiate. Interment will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the National Cemetery on Government Road in Salisbury. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the home of a granddaughter, Nelsie Lawing, 355 Beaver Road, China Grove. Born December 7, 1930, she was a daughter of the late James Landers Shinn and Ludie Lecie Ballard Shinn. Mrs. Rodgers was a retired nurse and previously worked in the offices of Dr. Max Whicker and Dr. Earl Correll. She was a charter member of China Grove Church of God. Her husband, Earnest Franklin Rodgers, preceded her in death in 1992. Survivors include a daughter, Cecilia Rodgers Benton of Kannapolis; a son, Chris Rodgers of China Grove; one brother, James Ray Shinn of China Grove; and four grandchildren. Memorials may be sent to China Grove Church of God, 413 N. Franklin Street, China Grove, NC 28083 in memory of Mrs. Rodgers.
