Carolyn Ann Twitty

Ms. Carolyn Ann Burgess "Candy" Twitty, 62, passed away Friday, August 14, 2015, at her residence.

A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 am Tuesday, August 18, 2015, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Leon Hawks will officiate. Interment will follow at Misenheimer Family Cemetery in Concord.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11:00 am Tuesday at Lady's Funeral Home.

Ms. Twitty was born December 3, 1952 in Cabarrus County, NC. She was a daughter of Elizabeth Jane Taylor Burgess, of Concord, and the late Paul Baxter Burgess. She worked for Bekins Van Lines as a packer. She was a member of Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church. She enjoyed fishing, dancing, and all outdoor activities. Carolyn was an avid Washington Redskins fan.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Sheila Lynn Tortolini; and three brothers, George Baxter Burgess, Larry Donald Burgess, and Allan Duncan.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by two brothers, Levi Burgess and Paul Sylvester Burgess, both of Rockwell; two sisters, Grace Marie Burgess of Concord and Mary Elizabeth Burgess of Kannapolis; one daughter, Ann Marie Thorpe of Florida; one step-daughter, Sherry Twitty Severt; three grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
