Mrs. Catherine Brown Freeze, 92, went to be with her Lord on Monday, August 11, 2014, in her home at Trinity Oaks Retirement Community in Salisbury. She was attended during her brief illness by Rowan Hospice and Palliative Care and the Trinity Oaks Assisted Living unit.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, August 16, 2014, at Lady’s Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Gene Bruce will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 10:45 am Saturday prior to the service at Lady’s Funeral Home.
A long time resident of Kannapolis, she was born on April 2, 1922 in Colbert, GA and was the daughter of the late Grover C. Brown and Lessie Moon Brown. She was married to the late David Luther Freeze, Jr. on November 20, 1941.
Catherine, an active member of Kimball Memorial Lutheran Church since 1941, served as a Sunday school teacher and member of the Mary McKnight Circle. She also worked in the Kimball History room. She was an active member of the Kannapolis Garden Club.
She was a graduate of Central Piedmont Community College and attended King’s College in Charlotte. Catherine was a cosmetologist graduate of Salisbury School of Beauty Culture. Prior to her retirement in 1984, she managed Merle Norman Cosmetic Studio in the Carolina Mall.
Catherine is survived by her daughter, Elaine Vann of California; and many beloved nieces and nephews. She will be remembered as a loving and devoted mother, aunt and friend.
