Mr. Cecil Eugene "Gene" Aycock, Sr., 75, of 4620 Daugherty Road, China Grove, entered the life triumphant, Wednesday, November 23, 2005, at NorthEast Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 26, 2005, at Eastwood Baptist Church in Kannapolis. The Rev. Gary Norris will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The body will be taken to the church 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Lady's Funeral Home in Kannapolis. At other times they will be at the residence. Born July 16, 1930 in Union County, he was the son of the late Benjamin Franklin Aycock and Susan Griffin Aycock. He was a diesel mechanic and formerly owned and operated Gene Aycock Well and Pump Service. He was a member of Eastwood Baptist Church where he was active in the Brotherhood. A veteran of the US Navy, he enjoyed mechanics, wildlife, planting trees, restoring old cars, and will be remembered by his family as a loving husband, daddy and grandpa. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Patricia Ann Harwood Aycock; two daughters, Frankie Linker of Kannapolis and Mary Hall of Salisbury; a son, Sonny Aycock of China Grove; five grandchildren and five step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren.
