Cecil Elmore Gabriel

Mr. Cecil Elmore Gabriel, Jr., 81, of Ebenezer Road, Kannapolis, died Saturday, July 5, 2008. Funeral services for Mr. Gabriel will be conducted at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, July 10, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. The Rev. Charles Overcash will officiate. Burial will follow in Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:30 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service on Thursday. Mr. Gabriel was born on August 19, 1926 in Catawba County, a son of the late Cecil E. Gabriel, Sr. and Maudie Josey Gabriel. He retired from plant one of Cannon Mills where he was a loom fixer. He graduated from Cannon High School in 1943 and went on to served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, having served on the USS John A. Bole in the Asiatic Pacific area. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Zana Benfield Gabriel, who died August 20, 2000. Survivors include a son, Tim Gabriel and his wife, Brenda, of Rockwell; a granddaughter, Kelly Bassinger; a sister, Jackie Webber of Palm Beach Garden, FL; a sister-in-law, Maxine Phillips of Concord; and two nephews, Chris and Gregory Webber.
