Mr. Cecil McKinley Marlow, 87, passed away Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm, Sunday, June 24, 2012 at Concord First Assembly, The Village at 280 Concord Parkway, South, Suite 15. Pastor Tom Whidden and Pastor Phil Bennett will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 pm, Saturday, June 23, 2012 at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times the family will be at the home of Jerold Marlow, 1517 Cripple Creek Road, Kannapolis, NC.
Mr. Marlow was born on September 26, 1924 in Kannapolis. He was the son of the late Matthew E. Marlow and Lula Patterson Marlow. He was a veteran of the US Navy having served in the South Pacific on the USS Cincinnati during WWII. He retired as a Cloth Room manager at the Swink Plant of Cannon Mills after working 47 years. Mr. Marlow was a member of Concord First Assembly serving as an usher faithfully and was a member of The Golden Couples Club.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Sharon S. Marlow and sister, Virginia Dayvault.
Mr. Marlow is survived by his wife of 67 1/2 years having married in 1944, Flossie M. Marlow; daughter, Peggy Vlass of Kannapolis; sons, Jerold Marlow and wife Kathy of Kannapolis and Ronald Marlow of Lake James; brother, Kenneth L. Marlow of Jamestown; grandchildren, Jay Marlow of Asheville, Joni Hedrick and husband Mark of Morganton, Dr. Justin Marlow and wife Ashley of Kannapolis and Jinny Baker and husband Dr. Jim Baker of Sparta, TN; great grandchildren, Desmond Hedrick, Joshua Marlow, Hannah Marlow and Jacob Baker.
