Mr. Charles "Gilbert" Anderson, 87, was lifted up to his heavenly home to be with his wife, Louise and son, Charlie on Wednesday, February 13, 2008. He had worked for 49 years, retiring from Cannon Mills to work on his favorite hobby, fishing. No bass or crappie was safe while he cruised the waters of High Rock Lake and Santee Cooper. Gilbert enjoyed camping with his family at the beach. G'anddaddy Gilbert loved spending his days with his great-grandbabies. He loved all 5 of them as much as life itself. Gilbert always saw the best in everyone and strove to make friends with anyone who crossed his path. Granddaddy will be greatly missed and leaves his legacy to live on. Gilbert Anderson was born September 11, 1920 in Bear Poplar in Iredell County, the son of the late Sherman H. Anderson and Maude Ora Wilkinson Anderson. He was preceded in death by his son Charlie on July 17, 2007 and his wife of 65 years Louise Cline Anderson on January 5, 2008. Also, he was preceded in death by brothers, J.T "Bus" Anderson, Donnie Anderson, and sisters, Ruby Richardson, Alma Cobb, and Alice Walters. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 16, 2008, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Karen Kaser-Odor will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday at Lady's Funeral Home. Surviving are his daughter-in-law, Genie Anderson of Kannapolis; two grandchildren, Stephanie Anderson Eudy and husband Earl J. Eudy, Jr. of Kannapolis and Brandi Anderson Grey and husband Brian E. Grey of Garner, NC, and five great-grandchildren; Bethany Eudy, Cody Eudy, Alston Eudy, Alex Grey and Daniel Grey, also survive. The family of Gilbert Anderson would like to thank Britthaven of Charlotte and the nurses, and doctors of CMC University Hospital for their wonderful care while he resided with them.
