Charles Osborne Overcash

Mr. Charles Osborne "Charlie O." Overcash, 85, passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2011, at Brian Center of Concord. A funeral service is scheduled for 1:00 pm Saturday, July 30, 2011, at Gilwood Presbyterian Church. Rev. Alan Buckner will officiate. Interment will follow at Gilwood Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Concord with military honors by the Cabarrus Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am - 12:30 pm Saturday at Gilwood Presbyterian Church. Mr. Overcash was born September 1, 1925 in Iredell County, NC. He was a son of the late Bruce O. Overcash and Lois Hudspeth Overcash. He was a self-employed dairy farmer. Mr. Overcash was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in World War II in Iwo Jima. He was a long time member of Gilwood Presbyterian Church. Charlie dearly loved his church and spending time with his family. He served many years at Odell VFD. Charlie served as assistant chief and was on the board of directors. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son, Chuck Overcash and brother, David Overcash. Mr. Overcash is survived by his wife Mary Edna Overcash; daughter, Kathy Corriher and husband, Tony of Landis; brother, Ben Overcash and wife, Rachel of Concord; sister, Katie Overcash Emerson of Concord; two grandsons, Jonathan Corriher and wife, Melissa of Salisbury and Josh Corriher of Charlotte and great grandson, Garrett Corriher. Memorials may be made to Gilwood Presbyterian Church, Building Fund, 2993 Odell School Road, Concord, NC 28027.
