Charles Richard Powell

Mr. Charles Richard Powell, age 71, of China Grove, died Wednesday, September 1, 2010. A memorial service for Mr. Powell will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Saturday in The Amity House at Lady's Funeral Home.The Rev. Ronnie Cooper will officiate. The family will receive friends in The Amity House from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm prior to the service on Saturday. Mr. Powell was born in Cabarrus County, NC on January 12, 1939, a son of the late, Logan Powell and Essie Mae Shehan Powell. A veteran of the US Navy he later was employeed fire protection as a Sprinkler Fitter. Survivors include his wife, Geraldine Chapman Powell, children, Nell Valentine of Kannapolis, Gene Valentine and wife Velvet of Rockwell, Linda Cowan and husband John of Daytona Beach, FL, Ricky Powell and wife Judy and Laura Ellen Powell of Concord; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
