Charles Ray Scarborough

Mr. Charles Ray Scarborough, 83, passed away Thursday, May 7, 2026, at his home in China Grove.

A funeral service is scheduled for 1:00 pm Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Leon Hawks will officiate. Interment with military honors will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.

The family will receive friends from 11:30 am to 12:45 pm Tuesday at Lady's Funeral Home.

Charles was born March 31, 1943 in Kannapolis. He was a son of the late Carl Glenn Scarborough and Mary Helen Yates Scarborough. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He retired from Duke Energy where he worked as a Level III Security Officer and formerly with the Kannapolis Police Department. He was a member of the Eureka Masonic Lodge #283 A.F & A.M in China Grove.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Ward Scarborough in 2008.

Charles is survived by his daughter, Deresa Lynn Sherrill (Kevin) of Belmont; two sisters, Shirley Kelley (Kenneth) of Elberton, GA and Sandra Cooper of LaVergne, TX; brother, Glenn William Scarborough of Columbus, MS; two grandsons, Blake Thomas Sherrill and Brendan Kade Sherrill.
