Charles Howard Willis, 75, of 650 Groff Street NW, Concord, died Friday, December 16, 2005, at the North Carolina State Veterans Home in Salisbury. After a six year courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease, he is finally at rest as he went home to be with the Lord. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, December 19, 2005, at Landis Baptist Church. The Rev. Billy Honeycutt and the Rev. Richard Horn will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park with military graveside rites conducted by DAV Chapter 27 of Concord. The body will be taken to the church 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Lady's Funeral Home. Born February 24, 1930, in Cabarrus County, he was a son of the late Tom Willis, Jr. and Maggie Hilton Willis. Charles was a member of Landis Baptist Church and owned and operated Willis Gulf Service Station in Concord for 25 years. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean War. Charles is survived by his wife of 53 years, Betty L. Aycock Willis; two sons, Howard Willis and wife, Sharon, and Ronnie Willis and wife, Teresa, both of Kannapolis; a daughter, Vickie Starr Earnhardt of Salisbury; seven grandchildren, Ashleigh Davidson, Meghan Willis, Hunter Willis, Darryle Willis, Zack Willis, April Finney and Franklin Earnhardt; two great-grandchildren, Bethany Finney and Katie Finney; three sisters, Mae Plaxco and Nancy Sechler, both of Kannapolis, and Helen Childress of Concord; and a brother, Tommy Willis of Kannapolis. Memorials may be sent to the NC State Veterans Home, PO Box 599, Salisbury, NC 28145.
