Charles Earl Wise

Mr. Charles Earl Wise, 86, passed away Sunday, August 20, 2011, at Avante at Concord. A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Tuesday, August 23, 2011, at Mt. Mitchell United Methodist Church. Rev. David Raiford and Rev. Marion Fulk will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9:00 pm Monday at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times, the family will be at the home. Mr. Wise was born April 19, 1925 in Avery County. He was a son of the late Thurman Cleveland Wise and Missouri Elizabeth Weatherman Wise. Charles was also preceded in death by his brother, Frank Wise. He worked for Cannon Mills as a superintendent. He was a member of Mt. Mitchell United Methodist Church and helped to organize Mt. Mitchell Volunteer Fire Department, where he served as Fire Chief for many years. Mr. Wise is survived by his wife of 62 years, Luva Long Wise; daughter, Jan Lamm and husband Charles of Terrell, NC; two sisters, Edna W. Davenport of Wendell and Evelyn W.
